Appraisal of the Wyke Conservation Area

North Dorset District Council has received a request from Gillingham Town Council and Save Our Wyke to designate parts of Wyke as a conservation area in recognition of its special architectural and historic interest. In order to inform the District Council's response, it is important that they receive the views of those likely to be affected by designation and they would welcome your opinion on the proposed conservation area. As part of the process North Dorset District Council are holding two consultation events at Gillingham Town Hall to enable those with an interest in the area to examine the information submitted in support of the request as well as the suggested boundary. Any comments received will then be reported to the District Council's Cabinet for formal consideration. Please do come along and look at the work undertaken to date and to give them your views and comments. The events are as follows:-

Saturday 16th July 2011- Town Hall, Gillingham (10am - 4pm)
Thursday 21st July 2011- Town Hall, Gillingham (4-30pm - 8:00pm)

Your attendance and comments will be very much appreciated. However, if you are unable to attend either of the dates the documents are also available on the council's website www.dorsetforyou.com and they will be happy to receive your views in writing. Any comments should be submitted to Luke Turk, Planning and Conservation Services, North Dorset District Council, Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford, DT11 7LL and should arrive no later than the end of August 2011. All comments received will be considered and reported to the District Council's Cabinet who will then determine whether or not to proceed with designation.

However, please do not hesitate to contact me or Luke if you need further clarification or wish to discuss the matter in greater detail.
